How to Have a Virtual Party

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a lot of events that would normally be held in person are now held online. Holding virtual events that are engaging and fun for everyone is a lot harder online than doing it person which is why I’ll share with you a few tips on how to have a virtual party, whether it’s for a birthday, an engagement, an anniversary or any other celebration.

  1. Consider choosing a theme. Having a virtual party can be difficult because when you’re on a video call, you really need to know before- hand what you will do or talk about in order to avoid awkwardness. That’s why it can help to have a theme. For example, you might want to make the theme about a certain era such the 1970s. Everyone could attend wearing 70s clothing, and you could arrange to do some fun pop quizzes testing people’s knowledge about the 70s. You could perhaps even find a game online you could all play, depending on the platform you use, that is somehow related to the theme.
  2. Speaking of virtual event platforms, choose which one you are going to use to host the event depending on what you’d like. There are different features offered on each one, so do your research. Some platforms, to name a few, include Zoom, Skype, Google Meets, and Microsoft Teams.

  1. Choose a date and time. Perhaps create a group chat with everyone you’d like at your party and decide on a time that would suit everyone so that the maximum amount of people can come.
  2. Once you have chosen a time and a theme, you’ll want to plan the activities. If appropriate, you can send out things everyone will need for the party to their houses in advance, such as bingo cards. If it is an afternoon tea party, you could all get an afternoon tea hamper sent to your house for the day of the party. Visit Team Gifts for a wide range of hampers for any type of virtual event you want to make as enjoyable as possible.

I hope these tips on how to have a virtual party lead to a fun celebration that won’t make everyone wish they were in person. It does require more effort but with some creativity, you’re sure to have a great time!
