“Footprints in the Sand” by Margret Fishback Powers

The original poem and then story of “Footprints in the Sand” is a religious, Christian creation by Margret Fishback Powers and describes her dream where she sees a person walking across the beach with God by their side.  In the dream the person sees memories of the life they have lived and as they walk together, they see two footprints that run alongside each other in the sand.  At the saddest and most difficult times of their life there appears to be only one set of footprints, so the person asks God “Why when I needed you most did you Leave me?”  Maybe if the unfortunate person had invested in some quality Walking Maps they wouldn’t have felt so lost!

God responds with the most amazing spoken affirmation of Love and encouragement by whispering tenderly ” My Precious Child, I Love you and will Never leave you, in those times of your most need and hardship, where you can see only one set of footprints in the sand, it was then that I carried you”.
