Kabak Bay, Oludeniz

You know a beach is something special when it’s mainly frequented by locals. There are no touristy gimmicks, no sun beds, water sports or busy boat trips. It’s just simple, tranquil and relaxing beach vibes at their best. There’s a bohemian and almost hippy atmosphere with a great choice of accommodation, including rustic wooden bungalows. If you want the best of Turkey without the crowds, this is the beach for you.

Iztuzu Beach, Dalyan

If you’re into places with solid eco credibility, then Iztuzu Beach is for you. You’ll discover a nature reserve at the far cove with huge amounts of space to get away from it all. Be sure to watch out for the turtles in June and July, who hatch their eggs just under the surface of the sand.

Mermerli beach, Antalya

For a mixture of beautiful beach and bustling urban life, this small beach is only a short walk from the centre of Antalya and its restaurants, shopping and nightlife. Visit the Mermerli restaurant to descend the private wooden staircase straight onto the sandy beach, where you’ll receive loungers, umbrellas and served food straight from the restaurant above.

Patara beach, Antalya

For those wishing to visit somewhere untouched by the trappings of modern tourism, Patara Beach is a must. An incredible 11 miles of continual sand dunes are untouched except for one café. Visitors must leave the sand by sunset to allow the turtles to do their thing. Stick around nearby though to watch a sunset and moonrise over this stunning landscape.

Aydıncık, Mersin

This lesser known resort has super soft sand and warm waters. It also boasts magnificent wildlife, with flamingos and many other bird species wallowing in the salt water inland areas. With a nature reserve close by, there’s plenty to spot and anyone with skin problems might like to try the black mud on the shoreline which is said to have healing properties.

Alktinkum, Çesme

Beautifully clean water awaits you at this beach and its shallow depth even at distance makes it perfect for families with children. At this gold-coloured sandy beach the water is incredibly clean. It doesn’t get over-crowded but has plenty of life with restaurants on the beach where you can pay for sun loungers, parasols and cushions.

Saros Bay

On the western edge of the Gallipoli peninsula sits Saros Bay with its fine, soft sand and beautifully azure waters. Staying at the Hotel Kum provides plenty of shady spots to take shelter from the beating midday sun and hotel staff regularly do the rounds taking food and drink orders.
