Walking in Norfolk – Places to Walk and Respect for the Land

The county of Norfolk is perfect if you are looking for a place with beautiful scenery to enjoy a walk in the winter. From all of the Local things to do in Great Yarmouth like this www.localthingstodo.co.uk/locations/things-to-do-in-great-yarmouth/ to the pretty waterways and towns it is a county that has plenty for everyone.

If you are wanting a place to enjoy the fresh air and picturesque scenery, then this is the place to go. Here are just a few of the walks in the area that many people enjoy…

Burgh Castle – If you are on holiday in Great Yarmouth then you won’t have far to go for this walk. It is also a great route for wheelchairs as well as pushchairs, so is suitable for all ages and abilities. It takes you across the mouth of the river Waveney, where there is a footbridge.

Aylsham Workhouse – If you want to see a bit of history, this walk is only a couple of miles and will take you past the old workhouse building. It is also a walk that has lovely views over the Norfolk countryside.

Of course, when you are walking in the countryside, especially in the winter months you need to take precautions and respect the area that you are in. Make sure that you don’t do any damage to any natural habitats, and don’t take anything from them – the motto ;leave only footprints’ is a good thing to remember when you are out in the countryside!

When weather is bad it is particularly important to ensure that you know where you are going and have let someone know your route and what time you expect to be back, as this way they can alert authorities if you are lost or injured. Dress sensibly for the conditions and carry water and food, in particular if you are going for a longer walk.
