  • The Health Benefits You Can Get From Knitting

Many of us can get stressed and anxious and everyday life can sometimes be challenging. Something which we all need to be able to use are coping skills and ways to relax and unwind. There are lots of popular ways to do this, including breathing exercises, yoga meditation and a hot bath and peace and quiet. But another great way to calm yourself is knitting – as well as being a great way to calm down, you will also be able to produce some useful garments or things for your home!

You can easily get into knitting, you can start with a knitting kit from somewhere like Wool Couture, and there are lots of classes and online guides that will help you to start off, as well as helping you to grow and develop new skills and stitches over time as you become better at it.

If you suffer from anxiety, then this is a great activity to take up. The focus on this restful activity helps to take the mind away from the worries floating around, and therefore calms down the central nervous system, leading to feelings of increased well being. Knitting can also be a great social activity, and there are many knitting groups and clubs out there that you can join, which also helps with feelings of anxiety. If you have a look in your local area, there are bound to be knitting clubs that you can join, and you will also be able to share tips and skills together!

If you have a condition that causes chronic pain, knitting can also be helpful with that. There have been many studies done on the effects of knitting on chronic pain and it certainly seems to lessen it. So, if you want some effective pain management, knitting could be good for you this way too!

Because knitting means making items from wool, it also can help you to get in touch with your creative side. This has huge mental health benefits and can help your mind to become healthier and more well-rounded, as well as helping you to achieve a mindful state, similar to that which you might have when you are meditating.

  • How can anxiety affect our bodies

Over the last two years, more and more people have experienced heightened levels of anxiety. Whilst anxiety is helpful to help keep us safe and to provide us with the rush of chemicals that we need to either fight an impending danger or run away from it, too much anxiety can be detrimental to our overall health.

When we experience long periods of anxiety it can lead to issues with our mental health as well as with our physical bodies. With more people experiencing episodes of poor mental health it is important that businesses have some of their staff members enrolled on Mental Health Training Courses like the ones that you can get from https://www.tidaltraining.co.uk/mental-health-courses/

There are a number of ways that anxiety can be experienced as a symptom in the body and these can include.

Headaches – the increase in blood pressure that comes along with anxiety can lead to headaches. These can also be a result of the cortisol and adrenaline that flood our systems when we are at high stress and anxiety levels.

Nausea – anxiety can result in nausea, and this is most common when levels of stress are high. It often occurs due to the disruption of the natural stomach environment. When the body is in a fight or flight response, there is no need for food, and the body channels blood and other nutrients to the vital organs and the muscles.

Shakes – when we are scared, nervous and anxious, it can be common for us to shake. This is due to the body being flooded with cortisol and adrenaline. The shakes can also occur after a panic attack when pent-up adrenaline and cortisol find a way to be released from the body.

  • Types of Ballroom Dancing

There are several types of ballroom dancing, and each has its own unique style. Smooth and Standard dancers maintain a solid frame and use closed dance positions while Rhythm and Latin dancers tend to move more freely and emphasise hip action and partner interaction. Rhythm and Latin dancers typically wear flashier clothing and emphasise shifting weight from the left foot to the right foot.

Tango: This popular dance is based on Latin rhythms and is characterised by sweeping hip movements. Its fast, staccato feel and dramatic snapping head turns make it a popular choice for social dancing. Besides being a fast-paced dance, tango can also be characterised by a more elegant look and feel.

Sequence: Sequence dances are very popular and are also considered a form of ballroom dancing. Sequence dancing became a competitive sport in the 1920s, when the Frolics Club of London created the first judged competitions in the dance sport. Today, the work ethic and skill level that drove this dance form to prominence is still evident.

Salsa: Salsa dance has distinct variations originating from different areas of Cuba, Puerto Rico, New York and Colombia, for example. It is a style that grew in popularity during the 1960s and 70s. Learn more about Salsa Classes London by going to a site like RV Dance

Samba: Another popular ballroom dance is the Samba, which has origins in Brazilian culture and history. It is a lively dance with a carnival-like atmosphere. The basic step involves the leader and follower stepping forward and back. The follower replaces the weight on the right foot and follows the leader’s foot. The paso doble is another popular form of the dance.

Waltz: Another popular form of ballroom dancing is the waltz. This dance is known as the ‘backbone’ of all ballroom dances. It was first introduced to Europe in the 16th century. The waltz is a smooth, flowing dance with rise and fall movements. The steps are counted as Quick-quick-quick or 1-2-3, making it very easy to learn and perform.

Bolero: The bolero is one of the slowest types of ballroom dance. It is a partner dance that originated in Spain and was made popular in Cuba. The dancers focus on grace and elegance while dancing to music that averages around 96 beats per minute. A bolero routine has five distinct parts, each one telling a story about the dancers. Its Cuban and Spanish roots are prominently showcased during the dance routine.

  • Average UK house price rises to £256,900

The average price for a UK home has risen by 8.4 per cent to £256,900 despite demand for property falling.

Prices are booming but mortgage rate rises are prompting a cooling of enthusiasm from those seeking a home buyers survey in Nottingham, looking to upsize in Norwich, or put in an offer in London.

    On the up

Property prices went up by the equivalent of almost £20,000 (£19,800) over the last year, according to the most recent Zoopla house price index. It also found that on average, amidst those enlisting the services of firms such as Sam Conveyancing, many first time buyers can expect to pay up to £269,000. This marks a rise of £33,000 year-on-year.

This rise is in contrast to a slowing of interest in new homes as the cost-of-living crisis and mortgage rate rises bite.

    Around the country

The Zoopla data showed that demand for buying homes is weakest in what would be considered higher value areas. This includes London. Experts also suggest that the trend is likely to grow, especially within the first-time buyer market, as mortgage rates soar.

The softening of demand in the English capital is being blamed on affordability factors and the aftereffects of the Coronavirus pandemic. Home values in London have only risen by 4.1 per cent, which is less than half of the UK average.

Zoopla said that the impact of increasing mortgage rates will have a more acute effect here and in other Southern English higher value markets where affordability is already impeding market activity.

    Best performing regions

In contrast to London, Wales and the Southwest are the joint best-performing regions. The average house price has grown by a massive 10.6 per cent in both of these regions.

The headline growth rate here was supported by a healthy number of new sales that were completed in the first half of 2022 and strong demand for properties.

Nottingham was the location with the highest increase in prices. Whilst homes still remain affordable, prices have gone up by 10.9 per cent in the last year.

Nottingham is followed by Bournemouth with a 9.3 per cent increase, Leeds with 9,2 per cent, and Manchester with nine per cent.

    Impact of mortgage rate rises

Whilst this may be good news for sellers in these areas, first time buyers around the country will have to earn an average of £12,250 more each year in order to be able to be eligible to buy as mortgage interest rates look set to go up still further this year.

Buyers in London will have to earn £35,000 more to be in a position to buy an averagely priced property.

    Slowing of demand

As the market adjusts to reflect economic factors, the impact is being felt in terms of the length of time it is taking properties to sell. In April, the average home took 19 days to sell. That figure has now reached 22 days.

    Impact of interest rates.

The Bank of England has raised interest rates in order to slow inflation, but this is creating even more challenges for first-time buyers. This group is the largest driving force within the current housing market, accounting for around 35 per cent or 177,000 transactions but are likely to be the greatest casualties as mortgages become increasingly less affordable.

The Bank of England increased the base rate to 1.75 per cent in August. This was the largest single rate increase for 27 years. City traders think this rate could go as high as four per cent by the start of 2023.

  • How to start your marketing plan

Any good Marketing Strategy Consultants, such as those who work for https://www.reallyhelpfulmarketing.co.uk/specialist-services/marketing-strategy-consultant, tell you that a good marketing strategy will help you to make the most of the marketing budget that you put aside. A strategy will also help you to identify key goals and objectives within your business and what you can utilise marketing to help achieve them.

There are a number of important elements to any marketing strategy, and it is important that you work through these in a logical manner to ensure that you include all the key elements. The best place to start is with an understanding of your key market and the offerings that you have. By looking at your current clients and customers and identifying key similarities between them, you can find common interests that you can then use in your marketing. If you are a new business and you don’t yet have a customer base that you can use for this research, you should look at the demographics of the customers in your ideal target market.

After you have an indication of your customer avatar, you can then look at the business goals that you have planned for the next year, and you can then split these out into their smaller targets, if possible, with dates and deadlines attached to them. You can then work out what marketing activities will help you to achieve these. It is also important to assess what marketing methods will help you to get your products and services in front of your ideal customers.

As a part of working out your marketing strategy, you need to work out what platforms and marketing methods are most appropriate for you. This is going to depend on where your ideal customers can be found, what your end goals are as well as what budget you have available. Once you have identified the platforms, you should work out a timetable as to when you are going to promote your products and services via each of your chosen marketing methods.

Make sure that you have regular periods of time where you check how your marketing is performing against the goals and objectives that you have set for your business. This then allows you to change direction if you need to at any point.

  • Hydraulic Power and the industrial Revolution

Hydraulic power is something that is used today for all kinds of things, such as this hydraulic power unit www.hydraproducts.co.uk/Hydraulic-Power-Units/Standard-Power-Units However, this is not a modern invention, and was one of the key parts of the Industrial Revolution.

Before the Industrial Revolution swept through Britain changing the way that everyone lived, Britain was mainly agricultural, and most people tended to live rurally, working on the land. The vast majority of work done was done either by animals or by humans. However, as the Industrial Revolution forged on, things quickly started to change…

One of the main things that we probably associate with the water and steam power of this era, was the invention of the steam locomotive. This of course made travel much quicker all over the UK, and these better transport links opened up parts of the country, meaning that goods could be taken all over the UK relatively quickly.

The travel and transport of products is only a part of it, however. Richard Arkwright created the water frame, which was used in many factories where products were made, and these water wheels could be used in all sorts of places, from agriculture and food production to clothing and textiles. Although this sort of invention had been used for thousands of years, the way that it was put to use in factories to increase production was what helped to power the Industrial Revolution.

Steam power was another form of hydraulic power that was not limited to powering transport. It was also used in factories, like waterpower to run many different types of machine and also meant that the factories didn’t have to be near a river, unlike those that used a water wheel. Steam power could be used anywhere, and it took off as Britain started to demand products produced on a larger scale than ever before.

The Industrial Revolution was a time of great innovation and invention, and there are many things at this time that contributed to the way that life changed, both socially and economically in Britain at this time. Hydraulic power is certainly one of the driving forces behind the Industrial Revolution however and has continued to be an important feature in many modern machines to this day.

  • Tips for Moving Abroad Away from your Family

If you are planning to move abroad, either for a work opportunity, or for the experience of living in a different country, one of the hardest things about making this decision for many people is the fact that they will be so far away from family.

Something that you should always do before heading off to another country, is to explore these feelings and work out how you will cope when you are out there. Although there are lots of good things tempting you away (there must be or you wouldn’t be considering doing it!) This is something that many people often underestimate, and it can take time to settle and adjust.

Planning for how you will manage this now will help you when you are out there. Here are a few tips to help you settle in and cope with that feeling of missing the folks back home…

Good Communication – This is so important when you are separated by so many miles. Luckily, we now live in a world where communication is really easy. You can use apps on your phone or computer to make video calls to people at home, and you can easily send gifts back and forth, with the help of companies like this couriers Slough based uk-tdl.com/

Being able to communicate will keep the relationships strong, and you will still be involved in each other’s lives.

Get to Know the New Area – Spending time getting to know the area and immersing yourself in life in your new home, will help you to build relationships locally to you and get to know more about the place you live in now. This will help to stave off that homesickness, and keep you busy and occupied. It is also a great way to get involved in the local community and find some things to do that interest you.

Have things to Look Forward to – Making sure that you always have something to look forward to will help you to settle in and enjoy your new life. Plan trips back home, or plan for your family to come and visit you, planning holidays and days out, these are all things that are positive that you can focus on.

  • Watch Out for these Three Things When Creating your Business Website

If you are thinking about creating your first website for your business, or maybe your business has been up and running for a long time, but your website just isn’t what you want, and you are considering having it redesigned, it is important to give it a lot of thought before you dive straight in.

When it comes to business websites, there are a lot of pitfalls that you can fall into, so here are some of the things to watch out for when considering your business website…

First Impressions – The front page of your website will immediately tell potential customers a lot about your business. You want to make sure that they don’t get the wrong first impression. Things that could put people off include websites that look very old or out of date, sites that take a long time to load, and inconsistency. Branding is something that you really need to pay attention to when it comes to your website, as it helps to build trust with customers.

You also want to make sure that your website is easy to use. If visitors to the site cannot easily navigate it, or find the information that they are looking for, they are likely to move onto a site where they can, and that’s lost business to you.

The Right Balance – As well as pleasing your customers, you also want your website to please Google. Your SEO strategy is part and parcel of your website, as you actually want your website to be seen. In order to do this, SEO (search engine optimisation) is something that will help your business to be found on Google when people search for the relevant product or service that you offer.

Doing it Yourself – Although there are many companies that offer you a template that is inexpensive and allows you to easily build your own website, this is not really an advisable thing to do for your business. Instead, it is much better to work with a professional like this web design Swansea based company https://www.accent-adc.co.uk/ as they will be able to help and advise you, as well as helping you to avoid making any errors that may cost your business.

  • Make Sure that Your Home is Safe From Burglars

Something that we are likely to see more and more of as people struggle to make ends meet is crime. It is well known that burglary increases when people become more desperate, so making sure that you are at a lower risk from burglars is essential – here are some ways to protect your home…

Secure your Doors and Windows – This sounds obvious, but you would probably be amazed at how many burglars slip in with ease through an open or unlocked window or door. Even if you are out in the garden, locking your door is something that you should always do, as a watchful burglar can easily enter and make off with your prized possessions.

Making sure that the locks on your doors and windows are safe and secure is also important – it is all well and good locking them but if the locks have become damaged, old or temperamental, it is best to contact a professional like this locksmiths Exeter based company www.guardiansecuritysw.co.uk/locksmiths-exeter/ who will be able to fit new locks for you and ensure that your home is protected well.

Protect Garages and Sheds too – Although the main focus of security will be your home, the other buildings that are part of your home also need protection. In some cases, burglars may use an adjoining garage to access the house, or it may be the shed that they are after – usually these contain expensive electrical items like lawnmowers, as well as tools, which they will target. Make sure that you have also got secure doors and locks for them, and you can also add some security lighting if they are in an area that is not overlooked or gets very dark.

Make sure your Garden is Safe – The garden is a common way for a burglar to get into your house and they will often do this by simply climbing into it. Make sure that your fences around the garden are in a good state of repair and that they are high enough that they are hard for someone to climb. You could also use cameras around the perimeter of the home to let would-be intruders know that you are keeping an eye on them.

  • Modernising your old home in Bristol with trusted Building Companies Bristol

You are lucky enough to live and work in a thriving, multicultural city like Bristol but your beloved family home has become outdated and no longer provides the right space you need to remain living there comfortably. Your best move would be to contact a reputable Building Companies Bristol like www.mogfordprescott.co.uk/builders-bristol and discuss plans to remodel your home. Have a defined idea on how you want your home to look when the modernisation has taken place.  Lots of older properties have several small living rooms, perhaps you may want to knock two of these small rooms into one to make a new open plan kitchen-diner?  The little breakfast room could be converted into a study so that when you work from home you have somewhere quiet and suitable for your laptop and printer. You may decide to leave your favourite, traditional front room with its large bay windows, picture rails and beautiful built-in fireplace as it is because you have always found it to be light and airy.

Having a new ensuite with a walk in shower, fitted into your large master bedroom is a great idea, picking your new tiles, flooring and coordinating bathroom suite is something to also take your time with so you get it right and love the finished effect.  Alongside that, have your original family bathroom updated with a new bath, shower cubicle, toilet and wash basin, new tiling and flooring. Of course, having all this work done to your home costs money so maybe think about either a low-cost loan from a bank or even releasing some of the equity from your home. Either of these monumental decisions need to be thought about long and hard before any definite contact with builders takes place.

Speaking to a trusted financial advisor before making any decisions is advisable, talking your plans through with family and friends is also sensible.  Maybe looking at other houses that have the style of rooms you will be looking for or talking through with your builders exactly what it is you want to achieve is a great idea. When you have made the decision to proceed with any modernisation work, have fun planning colours and textures for your new rooms.  Choosing new kitchen cabinets, tiles, and flooring alongside the new bath, toilet and shower unit for your ensuite will be a pleasure because you won’t have to worry too much about finances.
